Respiratory protection – RAS asbestos positive-pressure airline respirator
Designed to meet the needs of the asbestos-removal and stripping industry, Scott Safety has launched a new version of the RAS Asbestos positive-pressure airline respirator. According to the company, the device offers the highest levels of breathing protection and is packaged to provide a simple and effective solution for use when removing asbestos.
The Tempest demand valve provides a positive pressure inside the facemask, giving it an assigned protection factor of 2000. This, says Scott, makes the RAS Asbestos suitable for use in areas of high contamination. The facemask is also fitted with a negative-pressure filter, which, the company says, allows entry and exit to the working area without the need to be connected to an airline.
New wipe-clean PU-coated webbing provides a harness that has a smooth surface, reducing the trapping of asbestos fibres and leading to improved decontamination of the set after use, says Scott. The inline particulate filter ensures that any fibres that may be present when the product is connected to the airline are removed from the breathing circuit, adds the company. The RAS Asbestos can be provided with a hard case, complete with facemask and filter.
